Corns - Risk-Factor

You increase your chances of getting corns/calluses if you:
- Wear tight fitting shoes, loose fitting shoes, or heels
- Walk barefoot
- Wear shoes with thin soles
- Wear shoes without socks
- Have foot or toe deformities such as hammer toes -- when your toes curl up like a claw or bunions—when a bony bump protrudes from the base of your big toe
- Have an irregular way of walking that cause uneven pressure on different parts of the feet
- Do not protect your hands when using hand tools or playing musical instruments
