Osteoarthritis - Prevention

Here are some steps you can take to reduce your chances of getting osteoarthritis:

- Lose weight to lessen the stress placed on your joints. Examples of joints include the shoulders, elbows, wrists, hips, knees, and ankles.
- Rest. Do not participate in activities that require you to repeatedly move your joints.
- Stretch every day to strengthen the muscle around your joints.
- Apply heat packs and cold packs. 
- Participate in aerobic exercises.
- Get a massage.
- Get physical therapy.
- Get acupuncture.
- Protect your joints with braces, splints, or knee taping.
- Take dietary & herbal supplements
