Osteoarthritis - Causes

Osteoarthritis is the most common form of arthritis that the older frequently experience. It is a condition in which cartilage (the tissue that covers the ends of a bone) wears away. Cartilage may wear away for a number of reasons: being overweight, getting older, or overuse of the joints. When the cartilage is worn out, your bone will rub directly against another bone. Consequently, most people with osteoarthritis may complain of symptoms such as pain and stiffness in their joints (the area where two bones connect). Weight bearing joints (including the knee and hips), shoulders, elbows, wrists, and hands are most commonly affected.
