You are at increased risk of getting back pain if you: 
- Smoke
- Wear shoes that do not fit well 
- Are older 
- Are stressed 
- Do not exercise 
- Have poor posture 
- Sit at your desk for long hours of time and do not sit straight 
- Have suffered a trauma to the back 
- Have osteoporosis or osteoarthritis 
- Practice improper technique when lifting heavy objects
