Common Cold & Flu - Prevention

To help prevent the spread of a cold to others and to decrease your chances of getting a cold, you should:

- Wash your hands regularly with water and soap for at least 15 seconds. If you do not have access to a sink, you can use alcohol-based hand sanitizers
- Avoid touching your eyes, nose, or mouth after direct contact with an infected person
- Use tissues or your sleeve to cover your mouth and nose when sneezing or coughing
- Wipe surfaces (door knobs, telephones, sink handles) with disinfectants
- Avoid crowded places
