Common Cold & Flu - Symptoms

Symptoms appear gradually and usually start 1 to 2 days after you have been exposed to the virus and go away within 2 weeks.  People with the cold will generally experience some of the following symptoms: 

- Sore throat
- Runny nose with mucus that starts out as thin and clear and then turns yellow to green
- Stuffy nose
- Tiredness (mild) 
- Headache/Muscle aches 
- Cough
- Low-grade fever (very rare)  

Though infrequent, some people with the common cold can also get sinus infections, ear infections, bacterial pneumonia, and worsening of chronic medical conditions such as asthma and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
