Cold Sore - Symptoms

Cold sores usually do not last for longer than a few weeks.

The first symptoms of cold sores may include:
- Pain around the mouth and lips
- Fever
- Sore throat
- Swollen glands in the neck or other parts of the body.

The typical appearance of cold sores includes:
- A group of blisters on top of red, swollen skin. The blisters dry up rapidly and leave scabs that can last anywhere from a few days to a few weeks, depending on the severity of the outbreak. Usually herpes don’t last for weeks, so this is an important indication for those who worry that they might have herpes.
