Cold sores, also known as fever blisters, are groups of small blisters on the lip and around the mouth. The skin around these blisters is often red, swollen, and sore. The blisters may break open and leak out a clear fluid, and then turn into a scab for a few days. They will usually take several days to 2 weeks to heal.
