Gum Disease - Causes

Your mouth is filled with bacteria, both the good kind and the bad kind. When there is an overabundant amount of the bad kind bacteria in your mouth (otherwise known as plague), the bacteria releases irritating chemicals that can damage your gums and teeth and ultimately result in gum disease. In the more severe cases of gum disease, the bacteria can destroy your gums so badly that your teeth may fall out.
