Sunburns - Causes

The sun emits Ultraviolet Radiation that can be harmful to the skin. There are three kinds of Ultraviolet Radiation: UVC, UVB, and UVA. We are protected from UVC rays because they are blocked by the ozone layer.  However, both UVB and UVA rays can be dangerous. UVB burns the top layer of the skin and causes sunburns. UVA goes even deeper into the skin and cause long-term effects on the skin such as wrinkles, age spots, and skin cancer.
