Home > Story Sharing > Snoring

My husband used to snore occasionally when he was really tired or sick, but lately, he’s been snoring every night. I know it’s not his fault, but sometimes it bugs me so much because I feel like I can’t get any sleep.

I tried going to sleep before him to get a head start before he starts snoring. That didn’t work because I end up waking up in the middle of the night for some reason and then I won’t be able to get back to sleep. He tells me to nudge him if he starts snoring too loud. That only works for, probably, 3 seconds before he starts to snore again.

I tried using earplugs, but they always fall out because I keep rolling around; I can’t even imagine how many earplugs are lost in between the bed and the wall.

Finally, my husband went to see the doctor and the doctor said that the snoring was caused by a deviated septum. My husband was in a car accident about a month ago and the doctor says the accident caused structure separating the left and right nasal airways to shift and block a part of the left nasal passage. My husband went through surgery to correct it and now he’s back to only snoring occasionally. If at-home remedies for snoring don’t work, going to see the doctor may help you find the underlying cause of snoring like it did for my husband.
