Urinary Tract Pain- Cause(s)

A Urinary Tract Infection occurs when E.Coli, the bacteria that normally lives in your digestive tract and on the skin around your rectum and vagina, gets into your urinary system. Your urinary system consists of:

- 2 Kidneys - the organs that make urine
- 2 Ureters - the tubes that carry urine from the kidneys to the bladder
- A Bladder - the pouch that stores urine
- Urethra - the tube that connects the bladder to the outside of the body

Any part of your urinary system can get infected with the bacteria; however, infections in the urethra and bladder are most common.
